The report for the financial year ending June 30 paints a grim picture of heavy spending on non-priority areas, including political meetings.
In the lead-up to the August 9 polls, the president increased his delegations at state house and state lodges as he crafted a succession plan.

The figures show that the State House spent an average of KSh 4 million daily on hospitality in 2022.
State house was among the top spenders on hospitality as Uhuru’s administration defied his austerity measures to spend millions on entertainment.
The daily reported that an application by a man claiming to be former president Mwai Kibaki’s biological son has been dismissed.
Nyeri High Court Judge Florence Muchemi said Jacob Ocholla’s plea to have Kibaki’s family disclose his estate has been overtaken by events because the children had accepted probate by filing a succession suit at the High Court’s Family Division in Milimani, Nairobi.
She ordered that the matter be heard instead at the Nairobi High Court because Ocholla has filed a response to the succession suit.

During the session, Ocholla’s lawyer, Omoke Morara, requested to have the matter stayed in Nyeri.
However, Justice Muchemi ruled that even if the matter were moved to Nyeri, it would still be enjoined with Ocholla’s succession suit.
In her orders last month, Muchemi directed Kibaki’s family to file a response to Ocholla’s application within 21 days.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed plans to launch an investigation into what he termed as ‘state capture’ in former president Uhuru Kenyatta's administration and bring to book those he accused of running down the Kenyan economy.

Gachagua explained that the commission would be established in the next 30 days.
He stated that they would look into the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) contract, among other things, and make its details public.
He reiterated that they were not targeting the retired president with their plans, adding that they wish him well in retirement.
The daily reported that a court was told former Migori governor Okoth Obado was yet to surrender to the State vehicles allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), through lawyer Suge Jemutai told High Court Judge Esther Maina that Obado and his four children had not complied with the orders issued on July 21.

The court had directed them to surrender three V8 Land Cruisers to the commission within seven days, together with their logbooks.
However, the judge told the lawyer to file a formal application to compel the former governor and his children to comply with the court orders.
The judge further put the former governor and his co-defendants on the spot for failing to file their pleadings on time in the case that was filed in 2020.
The Swahili publication reported that the business community in Kakamega county raised the alarm over uncollected garbage piling up in major towns and exposing residents to the risk of diseases.
Traders in Kakamega and Mumias towns, including restaurant owners, shopkeepers, boda boda riders and jua kali operators, said the garbage is a health hazard and the stench unbearable.
