Harry Kane will carry the hopes of the nation into next month’s World Cup, but Tottenham boss Antonio Conte sees no trace of distraction nor detects any creeping fear of injury in the mind of the England captain.
Conte believes Kane is as focused as ever on his club duties during their best start to a season in nearly 60 years, despite the tournament in Qatar looming.
‘I can tell you that Harry wants to play every game,’ said Conte, ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Manchester United.
Harry Kane is focused on Tottenham and not worried about injury, believes Antonio Conte
‘A player who wants to play every game is not scared of injury or about missing the World Cup.’
Kane has 10 goals in 14 Tottenham appearances this season and has scored in each of their last five Premier League games.
‘Harry, like the other players, is really focused on Tottenham,’ added Conte.
On the issue of players getting injured during the hectic run-up to the tournament, Conte said: ‘Fingers crossed, there will be no injuries. Then, we should say we’ve done it once, now let’s go back to how we did it in the past.
‘Have this World Cup, then go back to playing it in the summer.’
