Solar-Powered Water Well in Senegal by Turkish Cooperation and … – African Business

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) opened a solar-powered water well in the Ziguinchor region of Senegal.
The 4 water wells drilled by TİKA will provide drinking water to the majority of the population living in 24 villages.
The municipality of Boutoupa Camaracounda in the Casamance region, which was affected by 30 years of civil war, has a population of around 12,000 in 24 villages. Limited access to drinking water has a negative impact on living conditions in the villages of the town.
In order to encourage the return of the people of the region who were forced to leave their villages due to the prolonged civil war and mined lands, 4 solar-powered water wells with a depth of 20 – 25 meters were drilled, providing access to drinking water to the majority of the population living in the villages.
