Sikh tradition inspires us to protect religion, culture & nation: CM – Daily Pioneer

Paying rich tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur on his martyrdom day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the sacred Sikh tradition inspires us to protect religion, culture and our nation.
“By following this tradition, we can contribute towards taking the nation and the society forward,” he said.
The chief minister, while addressing the 347th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur organised at Jatashankar Gurdwara, said: “Today our country is scaling new heights of development due to the sacrifice and selflessness of Guru Tegh Bahadur. On this day 347 years ago, he sacrificed himself to free India from cruel invaders.”
Recalling the sacrifices made by great men, the chief minister said that as the country celebrates its Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava, we must always keep in mind that the country’s independence has been achieved on the foundation of the sacrifice of great men.
The Amrit Mahotsav of Independence is also an occasion to derive new inspiration from the sacrifices of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Maharaj, he added.
The chief minister said, “Sikh Gurus have a glorious past. From Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, their ‘bhakti’ and ‘shakti’ inspire generations. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stood strongly against cruelty and barbarism. He sacrificed himself for the protection of Kashmiri Pandits.”
The chief minister called upon everyone to take inspiration from forefathers, revered gurus, revered saints and great men to move forward in the interest of the nation.
On this occasion, the chief minister was honoured by the Jatashankar Gurdwara management committee by presenting mementos, ‘angavastra’ and ‘kripan’. President of Gurdwara Jatashankar management committee, Sardar Jaspal Singh, Ravindra Pal Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Manjit Bhatia, Daulatram, Ashok Malhotra, Harpreet Singh, among others were present in the programme. The programme was conducted by Sardar Jagnain Singh Neetu, a member of Uttar Pradesh Punjabi Academy.
