Safaricom closes Two Rivers outlet – Business Daily

Safaricom has closed its retail shop in Two Rivers Mall in what the telco termed as streamlining operations.
The shop was opened in 2017 after the launch of Two Rivers to cater for the mall clients and those of the catchment areas in Ruaka, Redhill, Kabuku, and Limuru, as well as reduce heavy footfall experienced in the Village Market Shop.
The customers will now be directed to Village Market Shop which remains open.
The closure comes in the wake of reduced footfall in shopping malls amid four years of space oversupply and shift to small upcoming centers that are more convenient.
“As we continue to streamline our business operations to better meet customers’ needs, we wish to inform all our customers of the closure of our Two Rivers retail center with effect from August 31, at the close of business,” Safaricom stated.
“Starting September 1, 2022, our customers in the area can continue accessing all our services from the Village Market retail center or nearby care outlets.”
The ultramodern retail shop offered services including customer services, M-Pesa, SIM registration, SIM swaps and electronic devices.
The increased vacant spaces in malls is pushing property developers and landlords to jump into revenue-sharing models with tenants to counter low uptake of space.
