On Thursday, October 6, Kenyan newspapers reported extensively on the much-awaited ruling on the impasse on parliamentary leadership, with both Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza political factions claiming the majority in the lower House.

The papers also reported on Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's apology to Kenya after his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba published controversial Twitter posts claiming that he would seize control of Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
The daily reported that the trial of Kenyan nurse Billy Kipkorir Chemirmir, accused of killing 22 people in the United States, has resumed.
The 48-year-old, who hails from Kabunyony village in Baringo county, allegedly wiped out his victims between 2016 and 2018 in the state of Texas.

The medic is currently being tried for the third murder. Notably, he is already serving a life sentence after he was found guilty of one of the murders in April.
If convicted, Kipkorir will get another life sentence without parole as he waits for his other trials.
All his victims were elderly people living in Cheshire homes or in private homes where he posed as a home caregiver or a technician sent to repair an appliance.
Those who were unlucky enough to open the door for him were robbed of their jewellery before being suffocated using a pillow.
The suspect was airlifted to the country by his sister to work as a home care nurse, taking care of elderly people, but he discovered he could make money from stealing their jewellery and killing them.
The daily reported that the Labour Court ordered Keroche Breweries to pay its former managing director KSh 45 million for unfair termination of employment.

In a dispute that has lasted in court for the last three years, Labour Court judge Hellen Wasilwa ordered the brewer to pay Sam Shollei the money after finding that he was sacked without basis.
At the same time, the judge found that there was no hearing conducted before the firm issued him with a termination letter.
Justice Wasilwa had, in total, awarded Shollei KSh 52 million, but she deducted KSh 7 million, which he was paid immediately after Keroche dismissed him.
The newspaper reported that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is engaged in talks with the presidency over the recruitment of additional teachers.
TSC chief executive Nancy Macharia on Wednesday, October 5, said consultations were underway to work out a recruitment procedure.
