Sources close to the former governor suggest that his endearment with Azimio could be to benefit Jubilee Nairobi governor candidate Polycarp Igathe who is facing stiff competition from Johnson Sakaja.
It is reported that Azimio reached Sonko after the Nairobi gubernatorial debate in which Sakaja seemed to have overpowered Igathe.
The outfit asked Sonko to use his influence to rally support for Igathe, a deal he accepted but, in return, asked for a fair chance to be allowed to vie in Mombasa.
The daily reported on Deputy President William Ruto's rally in Western Kenya in which he asked the area electorate to reject Raila's candidacy accusing him of neglecting the region.
Ruto, who said the region would determine the winner of the August 9 presidential race, challenged the ODM leader to tell voters what he had done for them in return for supporting him in the past.

New research shows it is the Mount Kenya region which will determine the winner between Raila and Ruto in the State House race.
