On Friday, November 18, the Kenyan newspapers reported that electricity bills have dropped by 3.6% on reduced fuel and foreign exchange charges.

The dailies also covered how the government plans to import GMO maize to curb food shortage.
Kenyans will pay less for electricity in November compared to October after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) reduced fuel and foreign exchange fluctuation adjustment.
Kenyan households who consumed 50-kilowatt hours (kWh) would pay KSh 1,237.2 in November down from KSh 1,283.3 in the previous month.

Consumers who used 100-kilowatt hours would settle for KSh 2,474.3 from KSh 2,566 in October.
For 150kWh, they will part with KSh 3,711.6 from KSh 3,859.8 while those who consumed 200kWh will pay KSh 4,948.7 from KSh 5,133.

During the period under review, the fuel cost charge decreased by 10.3% to KSh 6.36 per kWh from KSh 7.09.
At the same time, the foreign exchange fluctuation adjustment reduced from KSh 1.48 per kWh to KSh 1.41.
Trade, Investment and Industry Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria has said he will sign instruments to allow duty-free importation of GMO and non-GMO maize.
The CS said the government had come up with the directive to help remedy the food situation in the country.
He explained that the maize would be allowed into the country until May 2023, a period of six months.
The Cabinet lifted the ban on the cultivation and importation of genetically modified food in October.

The KSh 50 billion Hustler Fund set to be launched at the end of November will join the list of quick digital credit that does not require collateral.
The fund has four products; personal finance, micro-loans, SME loans and start-up.
The loan limits for individuals will be a minimum of KSh 500 up to a maximum of that will be determined by the borrower's credit score and capped at KSh 50,000.
The Hustler Fund will compete with other lenders such as KCB M-Pesa and M-Shwari.

Ruto had chaired a meeting at State House on Wednesday, November 16 and backed former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar, ex-Nandi woman rep Zipporah Kering, ex-nominated MP David Sankok, ex-nominated senator Falhada Iman and former URP secretary-general Fred Muteti.

Omar Lali, the Lamu operator who's suspected to have killed Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai has claimed the deceased loved alcohol.
In his defence in court, Lali said Tecra started drinking on April 22, 2020, at 2pm a day before she allegedly fell on the stairs of a Lamu hotel and died.
The suspect dismissed claims that he often argued with his lover during the nine-month period that they dated.
