On Wednesday, October 5, the national dailies delved into various matters of national interest, including the resolve by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to run after public servants who are implicated in criminal cases such as graft.

The newspapers also reported on the move by the Ugandan government to tame Muhoozi Nkainerubaga, who had gone wild on Twitter, issuing threats to Nairobi.
The publication highlighted the resolve of the new boss at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to run after public servants implicated in various cases.
A few weeks back, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua warned the crime busters against pursuing suspects in their workstations.

However, as The Star reports, the new DCI boss Hamisi Massa has vowed to intensify the pursuit of graft suspects.
Massa spoke during the meeting of heads of independent and constitutional institutions convened by the Office of the Auditor General.
He is currently at the helm of the investigative agency on an interim basis following the resignation of George Kinoti, who served as the director for four years.
The daily reported on the happenings in Kenya's western neighbour Uganda involving President Yoweri Museveni's son.
The president promoted his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba to full General, stripping off his command over the country's land forces.
This followed Muhoozi issuing threats to Kenya via Twitter; he said that with his army, he would capture Nairobi in two weeks.

The Twitter post irked Kenyans, who rushed to the microblogging platform to silence him.
A statement from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Uganda People's Defence Forces confirmed that the President and Commander in Chief of Uganda's People's Defence Forces had promoted two military officers.
Major General Muhanga Kayanja was promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed Commander Land Forces succeeding Muhoozi.
Muhoozi joined the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) at the rank of officer cadet and graduated in 2000 from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the British Army’s officer training school.
Despite opposition from Uganda's opposition leaders David Sejusa and Kizza Besigye, the first son quickly rose through the UPDF ranks and was promoted to colonel in September 2011.

The publication also reported on Uganda disassociating itself from remarks by Muhoozi.
The first son of Kenya's western neighbour had suggested that his country’s army would only need two weeks to capture Nairobi.
In a press statement on Tuesday, October 4, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the neighbouring country said they do not conduct their foreign policy through social media.
While acknowledging the heated debate caused by Muhoozi's controversial tweets, Uganda said they value the brotherly neighbourhood it enjoys with Kenya.

Museveni's government reiterated its commitment to peaceful co-existence with Kenya.
The Swahili newspaper spared space for the burial of Lawyer Paul Gicheru.
The fallen attorney will be laid to rest on Thursday, October 6, at his Bahati home in Nakuru county.
Ahead of his interment, his family and friends held a requiem mass at Regina Caeli Catholic Church in Karen, Nairobi, where they mourned him as an exceedingly generous lawyer.
During the Tuesday, October 4 mass, Gicheru's widow, Ruth Gicheru, painfully recounted their last conversation where he told her nobody would ever separate them.

However, the lawyer's mother, Josephine Wambui, who has repeatedly expressed reservations about the cause of his death, was conspicuously absent.
Wambui alleged that Ruth might have a hand in his demise. The 50-year-old father of three was found dead at his Karen home on Monday, September 26.
Gicheru's family told the police that he took lunch but felt unwell and went to bed. However, he would never wake up until 7pm when his lifeless body was found.
His son, who also took the food, collapsed before being taken ill at the Karen Hospital.
The Standard reported on President William Ruto reshuffling his security circle.

He picked Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga of the Kenya Army under the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) as the new aide-de-camp.
Lengusuranga replaced Brigadier Timothy Lekolool who was appointed ADC in 2018 by former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Lekolool, from the Kenya Navy, formerly held the rank of Colonel before Uhuru promoted him to the Brigadier rank.
Lekoolol now joins his colleagues at the Department of Defence headquarters (DOD).
