I'm worth Sh498.2 million, Energy CS nominee Davis Chirchir says – The Star Kenya

• The nominated CS revealed during vetting by the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments.
Energy and Petroleum Cabinet secretary nominee Davis Chirchir on Tuesday told the parliamentary vetting committee that he is worth Sh498.2 million.
He said these include a house in Spring Valley, properties in Westlands, vehicles, money in bank accounts and investments in the tea sector.
“The Sh498.2 million is tabulated as farms, a house in Spring Valley at Sh95 million, some rental property in Westlands, Matundu valued at Sh50 million, vehicles, bank accounts, investment in a family tea value addition business at Sh185 million,” he said .
Chirchir appeared before the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments at County Hall on Tuesday.
He is among a 22-member Cabinet nominees unveiled by President William Ruto on September 27. 
Chirchir was at some point in charge of the docket during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reign.
He also worked as the Chief of Staff in Ruto’s office when he was the Deputy President.
If his nomination as Energy CS is approved by MPs, the former CS will be in charge of important energy entities.
They include the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), Kenya Power, Ketraco, Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation, the Nuclear Power Agency and Geothermal Development Company.
He will also superintend the National Oil Corporation, Kenya Pipeline Company, Petroleum Development Fund and Kenya Petroleum Refineries.
