President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza government has now withdrawn members of staff, vehicles and security personnel attached to former President Daniel Moi (deceased) from his Kabarak home in Nakuru county.
Daily Nation reported that the move came after the expiry of a two-year grace period granted by Ruto's predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta.
In Kenya, the law entitles retired presidents to at least 30 office and home staff, including two personal assistants, four secretaries, four messengers, four drivers and up to six security guards.

The security team and support staff had remained at the expansive Kabarak home in an apparent gesture of goodwill by Uhuru.
Sources privy to the development said that besides the security team, gardeners, chefs, waiters, waitresses and cleaners had also been recalled.
The redeployment of the security detail and other staff, as well as the withdrawal of official vehicles from Kabarak, began immediately after Ruto was sworn into office in September 2022.
A section of the security team that was recalled from the Kabarak home has reportedly been deployed to State House, with sources indicating that a lean team of the elite General Service Unit (GSU) is being retained to guard the former president's home.
TUKO.co.ke understands that Kabarak is considered a national monument as it houses Moi's tomb, which is part of the national heritage.

He said the "political cousins" would continue being on the backs of Kenyans as long as they lived.
