Brookhouse School graduates are set to join the world’s top universities after half of the Cambridge A-levels class scored grades A* and A.
The more than 150 graduates from Sixth Form will take up places at Ivy League institutions in the USA such as Harvard, Russell Group universities in the UK such as Leeds and Oxford as well as leading universities in Canada, Australia, and Kenya.
Brookhouse’s graduating class of 2022 posted the strongest A-level and International General Certification of Secondary Education (IGCSE) results in the region.
“With these results, our students can pursue their dreams at top universities around the globe that offer exciting future pathways,” said Moses Lutta Brookhouse School headmaster at the Runda Campus.
More Kenyan parents are embracing international education to give their children a chance at upward mobility and set them up for admission to top universities abroad.
These schools, most of which offer an international curriculum, charge up to Sh3.4 million yearly in tuition per child. The Brookhouse candidates sat their Cambridge A-levels, IFY, and BTEC examinations and achieved outstanding results.
“These students have taken the school motto “Learn to Excel” to heart and the school is very proud of their impressive achievements,” said Mr Eric Mulindi, Brookhouse School headmaster at the Karen Campus.
The Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds, where performance is graded from A* as the highest to G as the lowest.
The grading scale is accepted around the world by universities and employers where the uniform mark range gives an indication of whether the candidate is in the middle of a grade, or near either the top or bottom.
A-levels are internationally recognised qualifications that are required for entry into many university courses and professional training opportunities.
Students typically study A-levels between the ages of 17 and 18 years.
Founded in Kenya in 1981, Brookhouse has two campuses in Nairobi, the Karen campus which includes boarding, and the Runda campus to the north of the city.
